Hehe, almost a year since I last posted here, so if you haven't checked just to see in awhile, I don't blame ya.

Just here to post the new addition to the Aleong Family.

Her name is Dot, she's a Boston Terrier and is currantly 4.5 lbs of pure brattiness.

After collecting boxes from work slowly over time for the big move, we somehow got started on the actual packing.  And in doing so, we have started to go through the old boxes from the last move.  And now for a list of things I've found that I once thought I lost and things I'm still looking for.

Found;

1. Nothing I was looking for...

Still not Found;

1.  Everything that we thought we would remember where we put them.

So needless to say, it's a good thing we aren't located in St. Albert where you are allowed only one garbage bag on take the trash out day.  We would have a pile of bags back logged on the side of the house of all the crap that we thought that we needed and have not used in the last year.

I hate moving, I plan on not doing it ever again...maybe one more time but than after that, never, ever, eva, eva? Forever, eva? again.

Holy crap that was a busy month and a bit.  From October 3rd till closing today, November 6th, work had a sale on tires.  Once again, everyone waited till the weekend to come in to get tires put on.  I don't understand why people do this.  The fact that they get so irate when you tell them that you can't take anymore vehicles to work on for that day cause 25 other people were in before them drives me nuts.  They had the last four weeks to do it.  Some people will cite the weather was getting worse and that's when they get the bright idea that it's a good time to do it.  THIS IS EDMONTON, WE GET SNOW EVERY YEAR!!!  Plan ahead!

Well, it's snowing out.  I already drove, no, slid through my first stop sign.  It was already a sheet of ice.  I had actually started to slow down a lot earlier than I would have but that was still too late as I pumped the brakes to try and get the car to stop.  It was quite a slow slide that I even had time to flash my high beams to draw the attention of the other cars around me of my situation.  Disaster averted!

Kevin, Karen and my mother and I got the heated flooring done in the garage tonight.  Took a few hours to do but it's in and done.  Now for the builder to get the cement truck out to do their job.  Once the basement is done, I can sit back and relax and just wait for the house to be done.  I can't wait for that, the stress has just been dribing me nutso.

I'm thinking I should update this more often.  Just type the random thoughts that pop into my head at random times.  So here goes...

Work is going to get crazy next week as it's the annual fall sale for tires.  It seems everyone waits till the last minute to get tires for their vehicles.  Oh well, it keeps me busy and at 40 hours or more per week.  The crew in the shop are all keeping mum about the little policy the Employee Handbook has in it.  Apparently, if one is scheduled to work for 38.5/40 hours per week for said amount of time, they are automatically clasiffied as full time.  I'm trying to think back as to how long this has been going on for.  It's pretty close to the time and since the sale starts, they won't be able to cut hours as we'll all be working 8 to 10 hour days for six days a week, scheduled as well for that amount.  Fingers crossed, cause once it happens, it'll help pay bills for the new house.

As for the house, it's coming along quite well, just a few bumps here and there.  The major one, the garage door and it's cribbing.  The blueprints show the door as off-set to the right.  The cribbers for some reason cast the cement as if the door was centered.  Was not too happy with that.  They ended up fixing it by adding cement to one side and cutting it from the other.

Also, I have a change order in place for a hot/cold water tap in the garage, so far no signs of it, not good as they seem to be just about done the plumbing.  I'm just going to sit back and wait on this one as they really irked me with the garage door situation and the way it was handled.

Another thing absent from the house that should be there, the garage floor drain.  They forgot it in JC and S's house.  I'm not going to let them forget this one as I'll be the one placing the rebar in the garage and basement for my heated floors.

Other than those hiccups, the house seems to be coming along quite well.  Now for them to get a move on so that I can move in tomorrow.  Seems to be the thing now, both Karen and I want to get in there ASAP.  Living in her parent's basement isn't that bad.  We're just ready to be on our own.  I want our own fridge with the food that we want and will eat.  I want to be able to cook in the middle of the night without having to be so quiet that I might as well just microwave some piece of crap or go out and eat some fast food.

I eat way too much of that crap.  Too much microwaved tv dinners, too much fast food, too much junk.  I really need to change my diet and I know that once we're in our own house, we'll be able to do that much easier.

Been a tv junky lately, but not in the usual sense.  I'm downloading all my tv shows and watching them as I can.  Shows that I've watched thus far:

1. Dead Like Me, Season 1 &2, I recommend this to anyone.
2. Kitchen Confidential, based on the book of the same name by Anthony Bourdain, just started, 2 epsisodes so far.
3. Little Britain, Monty Python like comedy, funny stuff.
4. Rescue Me Season 1 & 2, Dennis Leary's drama, very good, very well done.
5. Sporting events.  US Open final, Aggasi vs Blake and F1.
6. Hell's Kitchen, the cooking version of Survivor.  If I were to be a chef, I'd want to be like Chef Gordon Ramsey.  So psycho in the kitchen.  The dude I was rooting for won.  The prize was to own and run their own restaurant.  However, Chef Ramsey gave the winner a chance to go to England with him and be an apprentice in London working directly with him.  He obviously chose the latter, as would I.

Watching these cooking shows is getting my itching to cook in a restaurant again.  I keep reminding myself that it'll be the same cycle I've been through in the past.  I have to stop it somewhere and Costco is the better choice.  In what restaurant will I get the benefits I do, the vacation time, the raises that I get.  Where else can I leave work for an hour to take a look at a car for the winter...

Did just that today.  Picked up the Bargain Finder, the Auto Trader and the Under $5000 Auto Trader.  Skimmed through it, called all the possible prospects and waited.  Got a call from a guy in Sherwood Park.  Left for my lunch and drove home with a Red 1990 Honda Civic Si in pretty good shape.  It needs the usual TLC that a car of this age would need. I plan on swapping out the transmission from this car for my CRX, it'll help with accelleration as the final drive in this one is shorter.  Think bike gears and sprockets.  I'll also take other parts off for the CRX.  Can't wait to get started.  I even tried to go to bed early tonight so that I could get up early in the morning to play with the car.  Damn sleep cycle not letting me get to bed before 3AM.

Another reason why I want to be in my house ASAP, so I can have my own garage to go out in the middle of the night and tinker with things.

Wow, I just learnt how they made Corn Flakes, cooool show, How It's Made on Discovery hosted by Mark Tewksbury.
